The third and last performance of Atlas des Kommunismus brought the 12th FIBA to an end. The full house at San Martín Theatre was the last sign of record-breaking attendance. The Festival featured more than 2800 artists, offered 220 shows and activities and welcomed more than 130 programmers from across the globe, in 59 venues distributed across the City. Without a doubt, the quality of the productions and the scale of the event transformed Buenos Aires into a true celebration of theatre, dance, music and visual arts.

With artistic direction by Federico Irazábal, FIBA went out into the streets during summertime for the first time, for everyone to enjoy the Festival’s offerings in the best theatres, outdoors, and in non-conventional spaces. It all started at Parque Centenario with a sold-out performance of The New Colossus, directed by Oscar-winner Tim Robbins.

Then, over 140.000 people visited the Abasto Marathon to enjoy a unique experience that brought spectators and artists together in the streets, neighbours’ homes, shops, metro stations and bars. In addition, Ciudanza burst into the City parks for three days, helping spectators rediscover urban furniture through dance. Unique international productions and the best of the local scene, films, meetings, discussions and lectures were enjoyed by thousands before the grand finale with Lola Arias’s play. In this way, Buenos Aires was transformed into a gigantic open-air stage.
